As Community Advocates Public Policy Institute begins our 15th year, we are proud of our successes but realize there’s so much more to do! In the coming year we will be attacking the root causes of poverty from a number of innovative angles, including:
- Researching and advocating for nonpartisan, employment-based policies to reduce barriers to good jobs and grow workers’ paychecks
- Piloting groundbreaking initiatives to connect workers to treatment for trauma; smooth the transition of formerly incarcerated individuals into the community and workforce; and improve the accessibility, affordability, and quality of housing
- Joining with diverse community partners to reduce substance use and abuse and suicide by promoting positive youth development and reducing risk factors
- Providing professional training to social service providers, youth workers, and community members so they are using best practices to address trauma, boost youth mental health, prevent suicide, teach life skills, and support parents
That’s a mighty to-do list, and we can’t do it without your support.
