X-WR-CALDESC:Responding to Addiction was developed by the Addiction Policy 
 Forum to increase knowledge about addiction\, improve helping behaviors to
 ward individuals with substance use disorders\, correct misconceptions abo
 ut addiction\, and reduce stigma in communities. The program is a multi-di
 sciplinary training that teaches participants about the science of addicti
 on and equips them with the knowledge and tools to understand and address 
 substance use disorders.\n\nWhat will you learn?\n- Signs and Symptoms of 
 Addiction\n- Evidence-Based Treatment Options\n- Medications available to 
 Treat Addiction\n- Recovery Support and Relapse Prevention\n- How to Start
  the Conversation with Someone in Need of Support\n- Engagement Strategies
 \n\nThe evaluation of the Responding to Addiction curriculum was conducted
  by the University of Delaware and measured addiction knowledge\, confiden
 ce in how to respond to a substance use disorder (SUD)\, and levels of sti
 gma\, including stereotypes\, prejudice and discrimination. Results show t
 hat for participants:\n\n- Knowledge about addiction increased across the 
 board for all participants\, with the greatest improvement among people th
 at entered the training knowing the least about addiction.\n- Stigma decre
 ased for all participants\, with the greatest decrease among people that e
 ntered the training knowing the least about addiction. \n- Confidence in h
 ow to respond to a substance use disorder (SUD) increased for all particip
 ants\, including how to help a loved one engage in treatment and recovery 
 support. \n\nThis training event is hosted in partnership with RISE Drug F
 ree MKE's International Overdose Awareness Day efforts.
