Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents\, family members\, ca
regivers\, teachers\, school staff\, peers\, neighbors\, health and human
services workers\, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (ag
e 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is
in crisis.\n\nThe course introduces common mental health challenges for y
outh\, reviews typical adolescent development\, and teaches a 5-step actio
n plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situatio
ns.\n\nTopics covered include:\n+ Anxiety\n+ Depression\n+ Substance use\n
+ Disorders in which psychosis may occur\n+ Disruptive behavior disorders
(including AD/HD)\n+ Eating disorders\n\nThis session is open to everyo
ne\, but it's free for those who live or work in Milwaukee County. However
\, we ask that you reserve your seat with a $25 deposit. Those who live or
work in Milwaukee County will have their deposit refunded after they atte
nd the workshop. Those who don't attend\, or live and work outside of Milw
aukee County\, will not receive a refund. Thank you! We appreciate your in
terest in learning more about mental health and wellness.
