 , understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use diso
 rders. This training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provid
 e initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or subs
 tance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.\n\nWhat t
 he Mental Health First Aid Course offers:\n• Common signs and symptoms of 
 mental illness\n• Common signs and symptoms of substance use\n• How to int
 eract with a person in crisis\n• How to connect the person with help\n• Co
 ntent on trauma\, addiction\, and self-care\n\nThe course will teach you h
 ow to apply the ALGEE action plan:\n• Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
 \nânâ Listen nonjudgmentally.\n• Give reassurance and information.\n• Encour
 age appropriate professional help.\n• Encourage self-help and other suppor
