CANCELLED: Adult Mental Health First Aid


Location: Sojourner Family Peace Center 619 W. Walnut Street, Milwaukee, WI 53212

This event is cancelled and will be rescheduled.

This FREE training (RSVP required) gives adults the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to adults who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

 

• Common signs and symptoms of mental illness.
• Common signs and symptoms of substance use.
• How to interact with a person in crisis.
• How to connect the person with help.
• NEW: How to administer naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose.

NEW LOCATION: State Leaders Look Ahead: Which Policies Will Ensure All Wisconsinites Thrive?


Location: Centennial Hall at Milwaukee Public Library, 733 N. Eighth St., Milwaukee

Join Community Advocates Public Policy Institute's panel discussion with state leaders to discover which policy changes will help Wisconsinites find and keep family-supporting jobs, earn good wages, have health care coverage, and thrive in 2019 and beyond. 

 

Confirmed speakers are state Sen. LaTonya Johnson, state Rep. Evan Goyke, and state Rep. Daniel Riemer. Panelist Sen. Dale Kooyenga is unable to attend and sends his regrets.

 

Please note the new time and location: 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Centennial Hall of the Milwaukee Public Library, 733 N. Eighth St., Milwaukee. Doors open at 1 p.m. Entrance is on Eighth Street, not via the main library.

 

There is no cost to attend this community event, but RSVPs are required.

All are welcome to attend the monthly meeting of the Milwaukee Transitional Jobs Collaborative, which seeks to obtain local, state and federal funding for Transitional Jobs and strives to see that such funding is used effectively.
