Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Gatekeeper Training


Location: Community Advocates 2nd Floor Conference Room, 728 N. James Lovell Street, Milwaukee

Community Advocates Public Policy Institute is offering a new round of Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) gatekeeper trainingthroughout the rest of 2017 for those who are interested in learning the warning signs of a suicide crisis.  The 90-minute sessions will be led by a certified trainer from Prevent Suicide Greater Milwaukee on:

 

Wednesday, October 11: 10:30 a.m. to noon; 1 to 2:30 p.m.

 

Wednesday, November 15: 10:30 a.m. to noon; 1 to 2:30 p.m.

 

Wednesday, December 6: 10:30 a.m. to noon; 1 to 2:30 p.m.

 

The QPR sessions are free of charge to PPI's Brighter Futures/PHAT grantees, MCSAP coalition members, the 53206 Drug-Free Community Coalition, Partnership for Success partners, City of Milwaukee Tobacco-Free Alliance members, and Prevention Journal readers.

Motivational Interviewing Training


Location: Community Advocates 2nd Floor Conference Room, 728 N. James Lovell Street, Milwaukee

Learn Motivational Interviewing an interactive two-day training with Shawn Smith, Co-founder of the Alma Institute and a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. This training is offered at no cost to Milwaukee Brighter Futures/Title V grantees and includes light breakfast and bag lunch. CEUs are available per Wisconsin - DSPS 166.10. When: December 13 and December 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Community Advocates Public Policy Institute's Second Floor Community Room, 728 N. James Lovell Street, Milwaukee. Questions? City of Milwaukee Tobacco-Free Alliance Quarterly Meeting


Location: Community Advocates 2nd Floor Conference Room, 728 N. James Lovell Street, Milwaukee

Spencer Straub from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services will provide an update on the "Tobacco is Changing" media campaign. The meeting will be held on Thursday, December 14, from noon to 1:30 p.m., in Community Advocates' Community Room, 728 N. James Lovell Street. Lunch will be provided.

Look for MCSAP representatives at the game, where they'll distribute team trading cards and Dose of Reality messages.
