Using seven guiding principles throughout the project (History, Purpose, Creativity, Faith, Unity, Self Determination and Collective Work) we work with men who have recently been released from incarceration. The men attend a series of meetings at the Alma Center, coined the “Walk of Truth.” In this social adventure, we evaluate trauma and conduct a historical analysis, giving reasons or a purpose for productivity. We take that purpose and develop an action plan based on the individuals’ own attributes or creativity, all while understanding that the obstacles in place can and will be conquered on this journey of progress. The Welcome Home Ceremony is a cultural event that celebrates the work done in the Walk of Truth, and the commitment of productivity that the participants will take. In the Welcome Home Ceremony, the Elder Council, a formed group of community elders, gives the official welcome to the individuals.
We value you being at the ceremony to help us welcome these individuals as contributors to our community!
Please come and join us. See you there!
